Peak oil. Prepare through community. If you believe that hordes of crazed zombies will be deterred by bullets at your secret hideout in the woods, good luck. If you believe that everything is going to get harder to access and excessively expensive, then defend yourself through your community. Localize. Prioritize. Volunteer something small that you already do and don't mind doing. Live where you don't need a car. Own a good sleeping bag and get a bike with lots of spares. Invest in efficiency. Practice conservation. Buy stuff that lasts a long time and can be repaired. Start composting and grow something you can eat. Stockpile essential goods. Who's your farmer? 1 gallon of oil is equal to 500 man hours. Technology is not a fuel. Don't be a slave. Look around. The bigger the lie, the more people believe it. Failure of complex systems is inevitable. Pay off your debt. Consume wisely. Stay positive.
Let's hope and plan for a slow descent.
